How to get in Google with your Listings

Real Estate agents typically don’t understand the relationship between Seo and third party aggerators like Zillow and Trulia. They do help promote your properties but at the same time they are killing the search engine optimization of your own real estate websites. What do I mean by this?

The majority of home buyers searching for properties online typically have narrowed down their searches to the specifics of what they are looking for. Therefore their searches typically use a property address, subdivision search or zip code search. If you have ever played around in Google looking for properties you typically see Zillow and Trulia coming up in the top of the search engine results. Why is this? Because content is king and they have more content than you on their site and they have been around online longer than you. These are all factors that Google uses to determine if you are an authority site or an authority in your subject matter.

The playing field does get leveled on Youtube because Zillow and Trulia don’t own it. As you can see in the image the Youtube results have outranked the agregator sites. It’s not hard to get ranking for your property listing videos either. The problem most agents have is they just don’t do them. You do not have to be an expert videographer to do video. The computer software and cameras are relatively inexpensive.

If you need assistance in how to do video for your property listings please give me a call at 602-405-0596. I have experience editing video on both PC and Mac. You can make great videos with just your cell phone. Many cell phones have an 8 megapixel camera as standard equipment now. Those little flip cameras shoot 1080p which means you are getting very high quality. I got my Kodak Zi8 for under $200.
